Fill in the Blank Friday

It's Friday!! I'm participating in Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren at the little things we do...! Onto the blanks!
1. My favorite color is pink! Though I'm also really enjoying yellow right now. And it's actually hard for me to have a "favorite" because I just love colors!

2. My travel destination of choice is somewhere relaxing. Somewhere that I don't have to do anything but has options of things to do if I want to do them. I do enjoy going to the beach even though I don't really like being in the water.

3. My favorite food is probably potatoes. I really like potatoes. And actually, I really like cheese. I eat much more cheese than I do potatoes.

4. My happy place is the back porch. At least when the weather is nice out. Or I should say when the temperature is nice out. I love being out there during thunderstorms now.

5. My favorite saying is "Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." I'm not sure where it came from, but I love it!

6. My dirty little secret is that I hardly ever brush my hair. I like to have it wavy and that's my natural style but if I run a comb/brush through it the waviness changes and I hate it. Usually I just leave it alone or I run my fingers through it to get out tangles.

7. Something friends might say about me is that I'm bubbly. I have a very bubbly personality and I'm usually pretty peppy!

I'm also participating in the Live Every Moment photo challenge today. The category is white. I know that it's summer and we probably don't want to be thinking about snow yet (unless of course you're having another heat wave like we are today...) but I love this picture and I love how white it is!

So... we leave for ASP tomorrow morning at like 7 AM. I'm looking forward to the trip. I'm a little nervous because I'm not much for manual labor but I think this will be good for me. I'm excited to minister to those less fortunate than us in the Appalachia region and I'm excited to spend some time with our group that's going. Keep us in your prayers please. Pray for safety, good weather, good attitudes and please pray for the families that we will be helping. Some of their stories are heartbreaking and they could use lots and lots of prayers! Thanks guys and I hope you have a fabulous week while I'm gone! Enjoy the week of wedding related posts! I've had fun preparing them for you. =)

While I'm Gone...

Since I'll be gone next week on our ASP mission trip I don't want to leave my little blog all alone! I want you guys to have something to still read while I'm away. So, I've decided that since my Wedding Week posts before our anniversary in April didn't fully happen I would grace you all with posts from our wedding next week. I'll just pre-set the time for them to post and you'll have lots of lovely wedding photos to look at! Here's a run down of the posts.

Monday : Getting Ready
Tuesday : The Ceremony and Formal Portraits
Wendesday : The Reception
Thursday : The Honeymoon
Friday : "Day After" Shoot

I hope you all enjoy the posts next week! I'll be anxious to get back and see all your comments! I'll miss reading the many blogs in my reader but I can guarantee I'll catch up when I get back! In the meantime, I'll be working hard on houses and making them warmer, safer, and drier in Keokee, VA!

(Semi) Wordless Wednesday

I love sunflowers. They are gorgeous and I love growing them every year. Ours are still growing and haven't flowered yet but our neighbors are tall enough we can see them over the fence in the meantime! =D

Love Conquers All - Justin and Molly

On Saturday our friends Justin and Molly got married at a beautiful church in College Park and had their reception at a nice country club in Silver Spring. The ceremony was very beautiful with the most precious expressions of love between the bride and groom. As Collin put it, for the first few minutes of the ceremony after Molly was by his side Justin stood there with this look of surprise on his face. A good surprised face though. One that said "Wow. This woman is breathtakingly beautiful and I am marrying her!" It was so sweet. Once they were proclaimed husband and wife Collin and I quickly headed over to the reception site to set up the DJ equipment for the party. While he was making final adjustments to everything is actually when I took the majority of my pictures. Anyway, the reception was a lot of fun and Collin did a great job as the DJ! And I'm not just saying that because he's my husband. He truly has a gift and I hope he's able to use it more often! I didn't get any pictures of it but the dancing was fun. They provided glow sticks (like we did!) and everyone seemed to be having a blast. I also didn't get any pictures of myself from that day. I loved my dress though so I'm disappointed I didn't have someone take a picture of Collin and me. Oh well, I'll definitely be wearing the dress again!

It was an honor to celebrate with Justin and Molly and witness the beautiful event of them becoming husband and wife. We wish you many, many years of love and happiness filled with blessings from God!

Waiting for Molly to come through the doors.
Here comes the bride!

Pretty cake!
He was such a good DJ!
We sat at table 11.  It was the perfect spot.
I love that the flowers were held into the vases with apples.  It was so clever!

I hope you all had great weekends, too! I've slightly recovered from mine sleep-wise. I am definitely not as tired today as I was yesterday!

In Need of Some Zzzzs...

You guys, I am so sleepy today. It was an eventful and very busy weekend. We ended up not going to the River Concert on Friday due to the extrememe heat wave we were having. They postponed the concert to 7:30 (versus 7:00) but it was still 95F with a heat index of 110F at 7:30. I don't do well in extreme heat (or cold for that matter) and Collin had been outside at work all day so we just thought it best to stay home in the air conditioning. We ended up staying up til midnight watching Benny and Joon. I'd never seen it before and I was glad we watched it. Anyway, we had the wedding on Saturday and Collin was an awesome DJ! I'll post pictures and blog about it tomorrow. We finally got home and to bed from that about midnight again (the wedding was almost 2 hours from home!). Then yesterday we had to get up early for church, then we said "see ya later" to our friends Chris and Bev who started their journey to Arizona. Chris got a teaching job in Phoenix and so they began their move yesterday afternoon. And then we had an ASP meeting and then saw The Musicman. We crashed in bed right at 10:00 last night because we were just exhausted. And then, much to my chagrin, about 12:30 I was woken up by a thunderstorm. It didn't scare me but it sure prevented me from sleeping because boy was that storm loud! And we have a basement bedroom that muffles sounds. There was SO much lightning it would make our room bright (and we have an egress window). I definitely did not get much sleep last night thanks to it being not only a loud storm but a LONG one... I was almost tempted to get out of bed and go watch the storm from the back porch...

Anyway, a better post will come tomorrow. Today I just need to rest.

Fill in the Blank Friday

It's Friday!! It's my day off Friday! I'm looking forward to this weekend! Today is full of errands and chores and then tomorrow I get to attend the wedding of two very special friends and Collin is DJing the reception! Sunday we have church, an ASP final meeting before our trip and Collin and I are going to see The Music Man performed by our annual Summer Stock group! Anyway, since it is Friday I'm participating in Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren at the little things we do...! Onto the blanks!

1. One of my happiest moments ever was Our wedding day. I know it's cliche but I seriously could not stop smiling. I was so, so happy that it was definitely one of the happiest moments of my life. I love thinking back on how much fun we had and how much love was evident in the room!

2. Summer is wedding season and weddings are great! I love love so I love weddings with people in love! I'm glad we've had a whole bunch to attend this past year. =)

3. This summer has been quite great! It's been hot, it's been cool, the weather has been perfect at times. Everything I'd expect of summer weather-wise. And I've enjoyed the thunderstorms we've had! And so much fun stuff has been going on so far! It's been great as of now!

4. My summer food of choice has been nothing in particular actually. I just enjoy eating lots of fresh produce.

5. My summer uniform has been lots of dresses and skirts. With flip flops of course! It's been the perfect temperature for them!

6. If I could spend the entire summer in one location I would choose probably here in St. Mary's County (Southern MD). I don't know of anywhere else that I'd want to spend summer. It gets warm but not as hot as some other places, we have water to play on, there's a boardwalk with soft serve ice cream, we have the summer River Concert series, and so much more! I love it here during summer.

7. My summer anthem is Dynamite by Taio Cruz. I love the song anyway but it has such a fun and catchy beat it's perfect for cranking up and jamming to! It makes for a fun road trip song.

So there you have some more blanks about summer via Lauren! This week I'm also participating in the Live Every Moment photo challenge and the theme this week is soft. Here's my submission below!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the humidity and heat the best you can. Over half the nation is sweltering. I know it's not pleasant outside here. Try to stay inside and drink lots of liquids if you're in the midst of this! If you're not, enjoy nice weather for me. =)

So This is Love - David and Alicia

What a great weekend! I was so glad to be a part of Alicia and David's special day. It was such an honor to be a bridesmaid for Alicia. She was a gorgeous bride! And we had a bunch of fun, too! I am so excited to share some of the photos that I took of the big day! It was a beautiful day. Lots of sun, a bit of a breeze, and two people very evidentally in love. Us girls had fun getting ready at the church before hand. I think the preparation is so special because lots of fun bonding takes place. Anyway, the ceremony was beautiful! I love what the pastor said about Alicia and David and their relationship. He also had some beautiful words to say about the relationship between marriage and Christ. We took some photos at the church after the ceremony but then we drove over to a local park and took some more bridal party shots. I can't wait to see Tiff's pictures because I know they turned out really well! Anyway, after photos we headed to the reception where we had a blast dancing and celebrating with Alicia and David! Then we sent them off on their merry newlywed way in a car covered in well wishes, streamers, and the empty cans from the reception!

Congratulations Alicia and David and may you have many happy years ahead of you filled with love and blessings from the One who brought you together!
