hosted by White Peach Photography.

Today's photo is black and white. I'm not big on black and white photography. I will admit it can look really, really neat and I'm not against having black and white photos around but I really love color so having my pictures in color is what I prefer. With that being said, I knew the kind of look I wanted to have for my black and white photo. I didn't achieve it exactly but it's kinda close to how I envisioned it to be.

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment so I can check out all of your black and white photos!!

Thunderstorm Revelation

I wish I could say that I took that picture. But alas, I did not. I found it on Pinterest. ♥

Something incredible happened last night. We had a thunderstorm come through and I wasn't afraid. I actually asked Collin if we could sit out on the back porch and watch it. You guys, this is HUGE for me. HUGE! I have been scared of thunderstorms for years. For as far back as I can remember they have terrified me. But recently, I've been enjoying them! I have been excited for impending storms when I see dark skies. I will admit that a few of them have freaked me out a little recently (like especially when they're REALLY bad) but mostly I've stayed calm and enjoyed the wonder of the storm. Unfortunately I'm still terrified of tornadoes, but that's another story...

Anyway... the only thing I can attribute this change in myself to is prayer. I have been praying for a long time to not be so scared (or scared at all) of thunderstorms. Everyone tells me that nothing is going to happen and as long as I don't do anything stupid (like go swimming or stand in a huge field) I'll be fine. But it didn't matter, I was still scared. So I would pray. I would pray every time a storm came through. I'd ask for calming and for safety. And it would help, but only temporarily. Then I started to pray for my fear to go away. And I started facing it. I started thinking about what thunderstorms really are. I started thinking about how they are created and WHO creates them and I started to appreciate it. God is awesome. His amazing and mighty show during a thunderstorm is INCREDIBLE. Last night's was pretty awesome. It was actually probably pretty far from us but it was an incredible display of lights and sound. As Collin put it, it was as if we were listening to a nature symphony. Sitting there on the back porch listening to the thunder crackling in the sky, the frogs chirping in the woods, the wind chimes playing their tune, the rain pattering all around, the wind moving through the trees. What an amazing song! I love when God shows off and makes me appreciate all that He gives us. And I especially love that now I'm able to appreciate thunderstorms. What a great, great answer to prayer!

I can't wait to enjoy more thunderstorms this summer! I can't believe I'm saying that! This is so bizarre for me but I'm SO glad! Thanks be to God for finally allowing me to enjoy this beautiful, beautiful display of nature!

Cindy

P.S. I decided last night that it is a goal of mine to take a picture of lightning. I should have brought my camera out last night and tried to get some good shots but I didn't.

Today's picture is of flowers. I love flowers. I love taking pictures of nature related things. I like to document life but for some reason nature is just fascinating and fun to photograph. Anyway... Collin and I planted sunflowers this spring in hopes that they would sprout this summer but we think the squirrels ate the seeds... there was evidence of something digging where we planted them and we were quite disappointed. Fortunately the neighbor planted some and they have grown tall enough that we can see them over the fence! LOVE!

Even though it may look like it I did not edit these photos at all. They look the way they do just from my camera settings themselves! Also, if you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to see your flower photos!

Today's photo is from a distance! This one was pretty neat I thought. I had a fun time imagining how the shot would turn out for this. For some reason while I was shooting I kept singing the Supremes song, "Stop in the Name of Love". I wonder why?...

This post is from yesterday. Yesterday's picture was a close up. I have only recently gotten into taking close ups. I think they're really, really neat though! I took a few different shots but I thought this one was the coolest. And let me tell you, taking this picture gave me the heebie jeebies. I am terrified of spiders and while I know Daddy Long Legs can't technically hurt humans with their bites (apparently their fangs are too small to puncture human skin) it still creeps me out. I only now thought of using the zoom to get an even closer up shot of the spider, oh well, next time...

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I wanna check out all your close ups! I've seen some incredible things captured in close ups!

This post is from Saturday. I may as well have just posted all my weekend posts on Mondays cause that seems to have been the trend this month. This is why I don't make regular posts on the weekends. I never seem to have the time to get on here!

Anyway... Saturday's picture was of something pink. This was HARD. I have SO much pink (it's my favorite color) it was ridiculously hard to figure out what I wanted to take a picture of. So I decided to get creative with it instead of going with the obvious and this is what you have! I absolutely love these hangers for drying clothes on. And the pink isn't so bad itself. ; )

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment! I wanna check out your awesome pink shots!

Today's picture is of an animal. I decided that since I post pictures of Stank on here all the time I wanted to take a picture of a different animal today. I happened to see a bunch of ducks in the creek under the foot bridge at the River Concert today so I took some photos.

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to see your animal pictures! I love animals!

And because I love my Stank-y boy so much and I think he's a handsome cat, I had to post a picture of him, too! ; )

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hurray! Today is Friday!! Of course I'm participating in Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren at the little things we do...! I really, really enjoy doing this every week!
1. The last thing I ate was a banana with peanut butter. That was easy to answer since I just finished it!

2. The next thing I'd like to eat is shrimp, rice, and veggies from the Japanese steakhouse. However, the next thing I will be eating is leftover Chicken Club Brunch. That's what I have for lunch today.

3. The best things in life are free! Think about it for a minute, you know it's true!

4. Something that makes me supremely and utterly happy is good weather! I get sooo super excited when the weather is perfect outside. Perfect to me is mid 70's with a slight breeze and no humidity! It doesn't happen much here in Southern Maryland but when it does woowee! I'm a happy girl!

5. Sports are something that I'm not too much into but if others are watching I'll watch and usually enjoy it.

6. I miss Tiff! I was literally just thinking before I posted this how much I miss her and her family.

7. Right now I am listening to some awesome music and wondering what I'm gonna do after this is done!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Mine shall be quite busy. We've got the River Concert tonight and then tomorrow we have a car wash fundraiser for ASP and I'm spending the day with my mom. On Sunday we have church and we're hoping to spend some time with our nephew and Collin's sister while they're in town! What do you have planned?

Day 23's photo was of a sunflare. We had no sun yesterday. Or rather it was playing hide behind the clouds all day. So unfortunately I wasn't able to get an actual sunflare (or sun burst) picture. It made me really sad, BUT as I was leaving the house for work yesterday I snapped this photo. I thought it was stunning. I literally walked out the front door, saw this, stopped and gasped, then grabbed my camera. =) It kinda has a sun burst effect. And I LOVE the contrast between the clouds. There was so many different cloud types and colors.
I also really like that it has a silhouette in it. It makes up for my not so good (in my opinion) silhouette picture from earlier in the challenge.
And here's another without the front porch blocking the top of the view.

If you're participating in the challenge, did you have trouble finding the sun yesterday? Leave me a comment. I wanna see your pictures!

Imagine that I posted this last night... I took my pictures and then we went across the street and ended up in conversation with the neighbor's until it was bedtime so I didn't get a chance to post this. Anyway... the prompt for the day was hands. No other hands make me feel more safe and loved than these. They hold my hands, they rub my back to comfort me when I'm upset, they make the most beautiful music, they work hard all day long to provide for our family. I love these hands.

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to see your pictures of hands!

Today's post for the challenge is a faceless self portrait. I had a bit of fun with this one. I was really liking the way my hair looked today so I wanted it to show in the picture but I couldn't show my face so I just decided to look away from the camera. I got a few good shots and couldn't decide between these two to post.

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment! I'd love to see your faceless self portraits. It's been fun seeing what the other participants come up with for each different challenge!

This post is supposed to be for Sunday. As I said in day 18 for this challenge, I was pretty busy all weekend and never got a chance to post my pictures. The day 18 photo is of something orange. I really enjoy doing word searches and I like to fill them out with a highlighter. I think it makes it look pretty. One of the highlighters I use is orange! Perfect for this day's challenge!

This post is supposed to be for Saturday. I was quite busy this weekend and didn't get a chance to post my photos. The picture for day 18 was of your shoes. I love these flip flops. They are super comfortable and quite cute (I think anyway). Plus, I have a furry little friend at my feet who makes the picture adorable. ; )

Today's photo is of technology. We have so much technology in our house. Actually, there's technology all around us, even in the things we may not realize. But anyway... I'm sitting here blogging away while my husband and his friend Alan are playing Little Big Planet on the PS3 and I figured this was a pretty good representation of our favorite technologies. =)

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hurray! Today is Friday!! Of course I'm participating in Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren at the little things we do...! I really, really enjoy doing this every week! Today has been a good Friday so far! Collin and I both have off work and I've gotten to sleep in, eat delicious pancakes, play frisbee golf, release a turtle into the wild, play some PS3 and here we are! And it's only 3:30. lol Later this afternoon we're having our church directory photo taken and going to the River Concert Series at St. Mary's College! Anyway... enough talk, onto the blanks!

1. The last movie I saw was Soul Surfer. So good and it had a really good message, too!

2. I want to go to the aquarium.

3. Surprises are really fun to do and get. Though if someone tells me they have a surprise for me it drives me CRAZY until I know what it is.

4. The best accessory is a really fun necklace!

5. My favorite warm drink is I suppose hot chocolate. I'm not really much a fan of hot beverages. I'm weird, I know.

6. My favorite cold drink is water. I absolutely love drinking water.

7. Currently loving Little Big Planet (I'm watching my husband and his friend play right now and it's hilarious!), frisbee golf (especially since I got new discs yesterday and we played this morning), and my hair clip. I bought it last year but my hair is finally long enough now to be able to put it all up in it!

So there ya have the blanks for this week! I love filling these out! What are your plans for the weekend? I am absolutely loving that Collin and I both have off today! It's so wonderful!!

Today's photo is of long exposure. I was really excited about the aspect of this day because I think long exposure makes for some awesome pictures! I had toyed with all these ideas of where to go and what to take a picture of but I ultimately decided on our club type laser that Collin bought for a rave he threw on New Year's Eve a few years back. So we hooked it up, put on some trance music, danced and then I snapped away! I got SO many awesome photos but I'll only share a few with you here.

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I wanna see your long exposure shots! They turn out so awesome!

The Pink Wave

Each summer our youth group goes on a mission trip through ASP (Appalachia Service Project) to one of 4 states in the Appalachia region to work on houses. Their slogan is to make homes warmer, safer, and drier. It's an amazing program and it touches so many people each summer. Our youth group has been going since 2003 and we've been to Virginia and West Virginia many times and I believe Tennessee once, and we have yet to be assigned to Kentucky. This year we're heading to Keokee in Lee County, Virgina which is practically in Kentucky! This is actually my second year going on this trip, my first time was in 2003. This will be a very different experience for me though. 1) because I'm going as a leader and not a youth and 2) because there is a completely different group of people going. I'm really excited about the trip.

Anyway... each group has to raise funds to go on this trip. One of our major fundraisers is flamingo runs. We have two flocks that we put in people's yards without them knowing (usually at night) and then we remove them from the yard for a donation. Actually, the victim doesn't have to make a donation, we will remove them for free if someone is offended or what not, but if they do make a donation they get to choose who the flock goes to next. This is such a fun way to raise money. Both the congregation and the youth love it! The youth love being sneaky and decorating people's lawns and the congregation loves waking up and finding flamingos in their yard! It's really a win-win situation. I've been out on a few flamingo runs so far this year and they've been great! We actually got caught once because the lady whose house we were at walked by the front window and saw shadows. She was expecting her grandchildren to arrive at any moment so she thought they were home and came to the door to let them in. Well, she didn't find her grandchildren but rather a bunch of us putting flamingos in the yard. =) She loved it though and actually invited us in!

The pictures I'm posting are actually from our wedding day. The group leader thought it would be fun to put the flamingos in my parent's yard the week of our wedding so all our out of town relatives could see them and they would get a kick out of it. Oh boy it was great! And it made for some fun photos.  These photos are courtesy of our photographer, Norine Rowe.

Does your youth group/church have any fun fundraisers that you guys do? Have you ever heard of flamingoing before? I love it!

Today's post is of a silhouette. I've never purposefully taken a silhouette photo before and I don't know that I've ever unintentionally taken one before either. Anyway... this was very challenging for me. Especially since I have an extremely difficult time holding the camera still to take a picture without the flash. Sadness. This was pretty much the best out of like 30 takes. My husband started out as a willing subject but soon grew weary of me saying "Wait... it was blurry. Let me try it again."

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to see your silhouette pictures!

I'm posting this on the day it's supposed to be! Yay! Today's photo is of eyes. If I could be vain for a minute, I just want to say that I love my eyes. If I had to pick my favorite physical feature about myself it would be my eyes. Okay, end my vain moment. But with that said, I love Collin's eyes even more. I told him at lunch on our back porch (when we took these photos) that if our babies don't have amazing eyes like ours I'll be disappointed. But how could they not when we both have blue eyes, right? Anyway... here's our pretty blue eyes.

And as an added bonus you get pretty green cat eyes, too!

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to see all the pretty eyes you've taken pictures of!

P.S. I did not edit these pictures at all. The colors are exactly how they look in the picture.

So I've been completely one day behind on this challenge for a few days now (at least posting-wise, my pictures have been taken on time) and that is just sad! Today I am going to catch up and post the picture for today this evening! The picture for Day 13 was to be of yourself and 13 things. This one was really hard for me. I wanted to do something creative but I wasn't sure what to post or do. And then it hit me. I love shoes. I have way more than 13 pairs of shoes. I could take a picture of me and a bunch of my shoes! So that's what you get. =)

This post is also late. It was a busy weekend and I just didn't really have the time to post my pictures on time! Anyway, the photo for this day is of sunsets. I absolutely love sky pictures and sunset pictures are even better! The colors in the sky just remind me of the magnificence of God and all the amazing things He creates. It's like He's showcasing just how truly amazing He is and it humbles me immensely! And the even cooler thing about this particular sunset, it was just after we had a really bad storm here and a rainbow was in the sky! Therefore you're not getting just one but three pictures!

If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to see your sunset pictures! I really do love pictures of the sky!

Today's photo is of a childhood memory. I have sooo many fond childhood memories so it was really hard to choose, but because it's so warm outside I have been very nostalgic for the times playing in the yard with the sprinklers and the hose. We used to hold the water hose in our hands and stick our thumbs over it for a nice misty spray. I loved it!

What are some fond childhood memories of yours? If you're participating in the challenge, leave me a comment. I'd love to check out your pictures!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Well, today is Friday so that means I'm participating in Fill in the Blank Friday with Lauren at the little things we do...! I really, really enjoy doing this every week now! It's like the highlight of my blog week!

1. This weekend I'm singing at a funeral and going to a birthday party and that's about as exciting as it gets. For what we have planned anyway. Who knows what spontaneity will bring!

2. My last vacation was our trip to Florida in May!

3. My next vacation will be I suppose in July. We're going to PA because I'm in a wedding one weekend. It's not really a "vacation" per se but we are getting away from town and will be staying in a hotel!

4. My favorite way to relax is watching tv or a movie while snuggling on the couch with Collin. I also really like to read a book.

5. When vacationing one should always find time to relax. Don't pack your schedule so full of things to do and see. Make sure there's plenty of downtime. And don't over schedule so you can leave room for spontaneity. Usually the spontaneous moments are the best ones!

6. When vacationing one should never be attached to home. Unless you left kids or something important like that at home, don't be attached to your phone. Ignore calls and e-mails and forget about work and your responsibilities while you're away.

7. The best part about a vacation is getting to rejuvenate yourself a bit. You'll go home relaxed and refreshed and with a much better attitude about those things waiting for you at home.

This week's theme for the Live Every Moment photo challenge is yellow! I love this weeks theme because yellow is my new favorite. I can't wait to see everyone else's photos and it also thrilled me to take a yellow picture!

So what are your plans for this weekend? When is your next vacation? I'm really excited about our trip in July! I think it will be a fun time. And of course it will be wonderful to be a part of my dear friend's wedding! I hope you have a fantastic time doing whatever it is you have going on this weekend!

Dreams Bring Decisions

Two nights ago I had the strangest dream. I dreamed that I was basically nine months pregnant with a baby girl. I don't remember every detail of it now but I do remember being at the doctor's or the hospital and feeling the baby's heartbeat through my stomach; like how you would feel the baby kicking/moving but it was her heartbeat. But the strangest part was I had never felt her move or anything until this point, which is strange since I was close to full-term. In my dream though her heartbeat stopped and it really scared me, I thought I had lost her but then a little while later I could feel her again. I was walking around in my dream with my hands under my belly just feeling her heartbeat because I thought it was the coolest and most amazing sensation. I didn't want to take my hands off my belly for any reason because I loved feeling it. Then after I left my visit with the doctor I kept running into all these people I knew, I was at some outside festival type thing, and I was making everyone I ran into feel my belly and my baby inside me. I kept explaining to them that I had never felt the baby before inside me and so this was incredible! I woke up from my dream slightly freaked out and I could still "feel" the baby's heartbeat. I couldn't really but it was all just in my mind. It really freaked me out though because there is no way Collin and I are ready for children. Not that we don't want them someday, we're just in no shape financially to have a baby right now.

I just did a little research on dreams and what it means to dream of being pregnant and this is the general conscensus:
To dream that you are pregnant, symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. Being pregnant in your dream may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project or goal.

To dream that you are pregnant with the baby dying inside of you, suggests that a project you had put a lot of effort into is falling apart and slowly deteriorating. Nothing is working out the way you had anticipated.

I suppose that's pretty much why I was dreaming about being pregnant. I've been toying with the idea for a little while now of becoming a Vantel Pearl's Demonstrator but haven't signed up yet because I'm scared. I'm scared of not doing well, of not having any clients and being a failure. It would be a great opportunity for me because it would help us out a little bit financially. I could make my own hours and "work" as often or as little as I want to. But I've just been too scared to take the leap into this venture. I need to do it. I want to do it. So I think I'm going to stop putting it off and just join. Thank you pregnancy dream for giving me a kick in the right direction! =)

And maybe one day when I really am pregnant I'll have a pleasant pregnancy experience like in my dream. =) Have you ever dreamed of being pregnant? Was it as bizarre as my pregnancy dream?

P.S. If you've never heard of Vantel Pearls visit their website here to learn more information. If you'd like to host a party or buy any jewelry send me an e-mail or leave a comment! I'd love to help you have a party. Also, if you're not in the general Southern Maryland/ Northern Virigina area and are interested in Vantel but don't know of a demonstrator let me know and I can put you in touch with someone in your area!

Today's photo is of a bad habit. It was hard for me to come up with something for this but I realized as I'm sitting at my desk with my hand on my face that that right there is a bad habit. I am constantly touching my face and picking at any little blemish I may have. It's really bad for my skin and is probably the reason I get little blemishes. So there you have it, my bad habit for the day (trust me, it's not my only bad habit).

Leave me a comment if you're participating in the challenge! I'd love to see your photos. What are some of your bad habits? Is there anything you've tried to break and just feel like it's too hard to do?

(Semi) Wordless Wednesday

This is my favorite desk decoration. But not only is it a decoration it's very much functional because I can pull pieces of paper off of the pad every time I need to make a little note. I've already used up all the pink and am half way through the red on top. The colors and the whale just make me so happy though!

Today's picture is of fruit! I'm actually not too big of a fruit eater so we don't have much in our house. No, I take that back. We usually have fruit in our house because Collin loves it and there are certain types of fruit that I do enjoy. Anyway... I was at the grocery store and saw the apples and it just looked so pretty! Then I came home and our strawberry planter was looking pretty good so I took a picture of that as well. And I like both shots so much you get them both today!

If you're participating in the challenge leave me a comment! I wanna see all your yummy, delicious looking fruit photos! I may not eat much fruit but they sure do look delicious!
